Make a budget and stick to it.
Start saving now – put away a little bit every month.
Set up an automatic savings plan.
Track your spending.
Pay all your bills in full every month and avoid high-interest debts.
Avoid most debt. Student loans and mortgages can be “good”
debt, although paying them off should be a priority.
Stop smoking! Not only will you save money now - on the cigarettes, on
dry cleaners to get out that nasty smell,  and on teeth whitening - but
also in the future, when you don’t need lip fillers from the dermatologist,
or God forbid, an oncologist.
Eat in more often.
Pay yourself one dollar for every workout, two dollars if it was a really
hard one. If you manage five hard workouts per week, you will be
healthier, thinner and have 10 more dollars in your savings account.
Buy a used car, or take public transportation. Even better, walk or bike,
or, run. Obviously this is not always possible. But think of the calories you
will burn and money you will save on a gym membership.
Patience can be a virtue - today’s “It bag” will be adorning tomorrow’s
sale rack.
Discounts can be your best friend or your worst enemy - you only save
money if  it’s something you really need.
Never buy warranties – they’re a bad bet.
Go green. Look for ways to save on utilities and in other areas. For
example you could change your light bulbs to fluorescent, or lower
your heat.
Make sure you have the right cell phone plan for your needs or check
out Voice Over IP (VOIP) if you make a lot of long distance calls.
Don’t pay banking fees – use ATM’s that are free for your bank.
Don’t rent DVDs or games – get them free from the library or join Netflix
for no late fees. (But don’t join Netflix at even the cheapest level and
then hold onto one DVD for three months).
Cut down on that snack habit (two four dollar trips to the vending
machine equals eight dollars per day. Eight dollars a day times 365
days equals 2,920 dollars. You only go once? That’s still 1,460 dollars per
year. (And, don’t even talk to me about the candy-bars).
Shop your closet - you’ll be amazed what your find.
Stretch your manicure/pedicure from two to three weeks (or at least
your pedicure).
Stretch your hair cut to eight weeks.
Go brunette. Blonds may have more fun but brunette's require less
maintenance.
Try half a head of highlights instead of a full head (or color instead of
bleach).
Re-learn how to park and skip valet when at restaurants or clubs.
Skip your facial or lengthen the time between them.
Try a self tanner (tanning salons are bad for you anyway).
Check out a new cheaper cosmetics line.
Try well drinks.
Skip waxing and try shaving.
